Admissions Process
Applications for Grade R and Grade 1 must be completed online via the WCED admissions system.

All enquiries regarding your child’s application must be done through the WCED system.
Important Dates
Applications Open: 10 March 2026
Applications Close: 14 April 2026
Confirmation Period:
28 May – 15 June 2026
Age Requirements
- Grade R: The learner must be 6 years old in the year of admission
- Grade 1: The learner must be 7 years old in the year of admission
Required Documents
Please submit certified copies of the following:
- Learner’s birth certificate or identity document
- Parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
- Proof of residence
- Immunisation card / Road to Health chart (primary school learners)
- Latest school report (if applicable)
For non-South African learners:
- Passport and valid study permit or refugee/asylum documentation
If documents are unavailable:
- A SAPS affidavit must be submitted with the application
Important Information
- The WCED does not guarantee placement at a specific school
- Parents should apply to at least three schools, including the nearest school
- There are no official feeder zones
- Schools may not charge a registration fee before acceptance
- Late applications are processed after all on-time applications
Transfer Applications (Grades 2–7)
Transfer requests are processed later in the year and are subject to space availability.
